Professional Technology Skills

Software

For my professional use of technology I have a much more involved setup in terms of software. My use of the standard Microsoft office products does not change but I have other tools that are added to my day to day activities. They include :
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Visio - (Diagram and Flowchart program)
  • Camtasia - (Capturing and editing software for audio and video presentations)
  • Navicat - Graphic User Interface for working with relational databases
  • Complete LAMP stack for programming. LAMP is short for Linux, Apache(web server) MySQL (database) and PHP (server scripting language).

I use more of the graphic design tools at work and they are the same listed in my personal skills section. They are:

  • Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • Illustrator
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional

Hardware

My professional hardware environment is more robust. I use a relatively new desktop computer from HP with a video card that supports to video slots. This allows me to have two monitors set up. I use one for the programming and the other to preview my development. I also have a Mac Pro desktop unit. I use this machine for most of the applications we work on for my department. I have a virtual machine that has all the versioning we need to maintain our code. We use GitHub to store our repositories and track our changes.
