ETEC 530 - Educational Technology Leadership
Final Exam and Guest Speakers
This class provided some very impactful lessons for me. We were introduced to two distinct approaches to leadership through our readings. Leading with Soul by Lee G. Bolman and Terrence E. Deal provide a spiritual and introspective analysis of what it means to be a leader. To extend the dichotomy of how we view leadership, we read Donella Meadows' Thinking in Systems. This more technical perspective changed my view drastically. I did concentrate too much on the components of the system without taking into the consideration the system as a whole. We had several guests speakers that added real experiences to what it takes to be true leaders in this field.
Personal Learning Networks(PLN)
My group project was my first exposure to the personal learning networks. I created the PLN website using Drupal which allowed me to integrate other social newtworking APIs. One example was the integration with a twitter feed that updated in real time based on the activity of the twitter postings. Other class activities included having everyone look at the Voxer app which added the voice recording feature to the chat experience. Another item included in our presentation was the TweetDeck environment which allows for a custom twitter experience.
